MIDDLE EAST STUDIES '17 / II. International Interdisciplinary Conference on Middle East will be held at Nippon Meeting Halls in Istanbul. The conference is coordinated by DAKAM (Eastern Mediterranean Academic Research Center) and will be organized by BILSAS (Science, Art, Sport Productions).

The event will be held together along with RELIGION STUDIES '17 / International Interdisciplinary Conference on Religions and TURKEY STUDIES '17 / International Interdisciplinary Conference on Turkey, Turkish Studies and Turkology. Participants will be able to attend any of the sessions of these conferences.

All abstracts are going to be selected according to double blind reviews and accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings E-Book with an ISBN number that will be given to you in a DVD box during conference registration.

We invite you to join us at the event in Istanbul and would like to emphasize that proposals from different parts of the world are welcomed.

FRAMEWORK

The Middle East and North Africa as a region is intimately connected both regionally and to the wider world. This is true historically, where the region has long acted as a crossroads of trade, culture and ideas, as well as in more contemporary contexts – when Arab protest movements inspired similar actions around the world, and migration within and from the region is having a global impact. It is no coincidence that the Middle East is at the forefront of innovative developments in social media and other networks of communication. The Annual Conference seeks to place networks at the centre of the discussion, encouraging proposals for papers and panels that take up this theme in innovative ways. The conference organisers encourage submissions that highlight the connections between the Middle East and other areas of the globe, as well as ties within the region, be they between individual countries or between sub-regions. In addition, we warmly encourage proposals on any topic related to Middle Eastern Studies, regardless of its fit with the theme. Our aim is to encourage dialogue between scholars studying the Middle East and North Africa from all disciplines.

All papers will be published in proceedings e-book as DVD (with an ISBN number) and then in DAKAM's online library. A selection will be made in the relevant DAKAM journal that will be reviewed by Thomson&Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index
